How to move an email address in use by one account to another account

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi have two WordPress.com accounts, A and B. I would like to transfer the primary email address of B to A.

    I have tried the following:
Log into B, change the email address to a temporary email address.
Confirm the change to a temporary address by clicking the link in the verification email
Log into A, change the email address to the original address from B. I get the error “That e-mail address is already being used.”.

How can I get the WordPress email changed?

    Thanks!

    Hello there,

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Try changing it at http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/ first.

If that doesn’t work, try Users -> Personal Settings in your blog’s Dashboard.

Note: After the change you will receive an confirmation email. Please be sure to check your spam/junk mail filter in your email client, if you cannot locate it.
