How to move content from wordpress to blogger

    Due to wordpress’ lack of respect for the differing views on gay marriage among their staff and their customers, I have decided to make wordpress.com content private for the time that the rainbow banner stays at the top of the page. Some content I need to make accessible so I am moving it.

    For those who read this and want to move here is the process:

    1. export your posts from wordpress.com settings in an xml file
    2. download all the images by extracting the urls from the xml file
    3. upload the images to a suitable image server (e.g. google photos, flickr)
    4. change the links in the xml file.
    5. convert the xml file to whatever format you require (e.g. blogger.com)

    Some of these steps are quite tricky and require macros to do efficiently, but in the long term it’s worth it so that you control your content.

    It is probably easier to host your own wordpress and import from wordpress.com rather than convert it.
