    1. I’m planning to move my website from wordpress.org to wordpress.com. I would like to know how to proceed in advance because my website is already done. I don’t want to start a new website. And I plan to buy hosting in the business plan. Can you tell me how to do it?

    2. Some of the plugins that I currently use It needs FFmpeg. I would like to know that in the business plan Do you have this function?

  • Hi there,

Since you mentioned your interest in the Business plan (which you would need to be able to use plugins on your site) the good news is that this plan includes a way to migrate an exact copy of your existing site (plugins, theme design, everything really) with just a few clicks.

To do that, here are the basic steps:

    1. Create a new site on your WordPress.com account and upgrade it to the Business Plan
    2. On your existing site, install the Jetpack plugin and follow the prompts in your dashboard to connect it to your WordPress.com account.
    3. You will then be able to visit the Import page on your WordPress.com dashboard and pick your existing site from the list in order to import a copy.
    4. After the import is complete, you can confirm the copy here is good, or use it as the starting point for a site redesign.
    5. When you are ready to launch, as the final step you will transfer your domain to us, so the new site replaces the old one seamlessly.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    1. I need to create 1 new domain first. After the data transfer is completed, I transfer the original domain to cover the new domain again, is that correct?
    2. Conclude whether the business plan supports FFmpeg or not?

Sites on WordPress.com automatically receive a basic free address, before any domain is attached. What you can do is:

    1. Purchase the Business plan
    2. Import the site content here to WordPress.com while your site here uses the free “.wordpress.com” address (or “.wpcomstaging.com” for any site with Business plan hosting features currently active)
    3. Finally when you feel the site is ready, you can bring over the old domain and set it as the “primary” address to replace the basic free address we provide.

Depending on whether you would wish to transfer or simply connect your old domain, we do have guides for both options:

Conclude whether the business plan supports FFmpeg or not?

We’re not entirely sure what you’d require – could you tell us what plugins are you currently using on your WordPress.org site which require FFmpeg (and what you’re using them for), so we can better confirm?

    1. Micropayment plugin that need FFmpeg.
    2. If my site only uses WooCommerce (I already have a payment plugin on my site) I don’t use any other extensions of WooCommerce. Can I choose a business plan?

about FFmpeg if i use business plan seem it have Videopress unlimited space, Am I correct? And do I need to set anything else? because it seems to be interchangeable So I’m left with only one doubt: WooCommerce.

  • Hi there,

I visited the page for the micropayments plugin, but did not see FFmpeg mentioned as a requirement. Is there some unstated dependency on ffmpeg libraries being available server-side? Perhaps this question has already been answered since you mention VideoPress may be able to work with the plugin directly.

So I’m left with only one doubt: WooCommerce.

Under the Business plan, you can upload any plugin designed for WordPress, so yes you can install and user WooCommerce, and many of our current site do as well. This allow you to consider selling downloads or access to digital content via WooCommerce: https://woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/

It’s worth pointing out that our parent company (Automattic) also owns WooCommerce, so the Business plan includes excellent WooCommerce support (via live chat) for any setup questions you have with that plugin, which is a nice extra.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
