How to move post from one page to another

    Hi,

    I have few posts in my main page and I want to move them to another page in the same site. My URL is like yoursite.wordpress.com.
    Thanks for the help

    Cut and paste then delete the original post?

    The front page of your blog just lists the most recent posts that you’ve made. You can change the date of your post if you want to something earlier. When you make more posts, your previous posts will move off of the front.

    judy, that would be real time consuming. i created quite a few pages like Travel, Marathon and few more in my site. There are more than 100 posts, if I do it this way then I would be spending my next 2 days on this activity…
    isnt there any other simpler method??

    @sathishk,
    you did say a few posts ;-) Anyway, i’m not sure we really understand what you want to do.

    Do you just want posts to show up in category pages? If so, they’re already there; people just need to click on a category in the category widget in your sidebar.

    I guess the question is: why do you want to move them?

    Maybe an example would help as well. You should only be seeing about ten post on the front. Maybe if you gave specifics, it would help.

    I’m guessing this is a case of a blogger
    (1) not understanding the differences between pages and posts and knowing that pages are for static content;

    (2) not understanding that a blog is not a website and that only one page on a blog automatically updates;
    (3) not understanding the use of widgets and the relationships between blogrolls, links and categories.

    I could be wrong but IMO if this is the blog in question http://sathishk.wordpress.com/blogroll-links/ then this does appear to be likely. All of these pages are empty.

    When I write a new post I cannot decide into which this page should be displayed. The default page is always “Home”.
    Would there be changes in future so that I can decide into which page the post should be categorised under.
    I understand what categories are.

    To explain clearly what I did, I imported my blog from blogger since I could not have most features out there like wordpress. After doing an import, I wanted posts like travel to be displayed under the page “Travel” and not inside the page “Home”. I was not able to do that. So, I want to know if there is a feature by which I can do this.

    Going by the reply of timethief I understand this is not possible. Do let me know if an alternative is possible.

    All your posts that are tagged “Travel” and ONLY those posts will be displayed if someone clicks on the tag “Travel” in your sidebar, even if they already are displayed mixed in with others on your home page. That’s how blogs and tags work. Does that clarify things?

    sathishk: pages are posts that work out of the chronology system that blog posts usually are under. as raincoaster said, all your travel posts would be in the travel tag, when clicked on that tag, it will open into a new browser that shows all your travel tags. that’s how it works in wp.

    the only alternative i can think of is by blockquoting each “post” to put in your travel page, to differentiate between posts. however, that means there would be no timestamp for all your posts in the travel page because essentially what you’re doing is adding content into the travel page, and not adding posts into the travel category.
