How to move post image to another div?

    I’m new to WordPress, just started learning it, and I have a bit of a problem.

    On my index page I want to take a first image from a post, and move it to another div, similar to detach() function in jQuery.
    My guess is that I should use WordPress filters, so can someone explain me how to do it?

    So can anyone explain to me how to do this?

    That does not sound like a free hosted WordPress com blog. I believe you are posting to the wrong support forum. This one is only for free hosted WordPress>COM blog issues. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.
