How to move wordpress.com content to Bluehost?
-
Hi,
I purchased a bluehost domain and their web hosting service. I want to move/transfer my wordpress.com blog contents to my own website at bluehost? What should I do for that? Should I do it myself or some developer at wordpress would do that for me? Also, is it going to cost me anything and if yes, how much or which service should I use? Please help… I am very confused!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can do it yourself, or you can pay Wp.com about $99 for the Guided Transfer.
Just go to Dashboard->Tools on your blog and click to create an Export file. Be sure to select the option that does all media etc and comments. Then in the new blog on the Tools page, click Import. This costs you nothing.

Yes, I have already done that.. the file was a .xml file and I imported it on bluehost, but the file size is only 2.7MB. With all the blog images it definitely cannot be so less. Also, what about the database transfer? I read on a forum that I have to do it with a FTP, I have no idea what I need to do for that :(

No, you don’t access it. You don’t access the database either. You have a WP.com blog and you don’t get access to those parts of the website. The theme doesn’t transfer. JUST the content. Put it in the new site and look and see what has come across.
