How to not send emails when posts are published retroactively

This is a continuation of the following topic, now closed:

I am moving priot content from an old site into WordPress, with a retroactive date (older than 1 month). However, no matter how old, subcribers receive notification as if it was a new post.
Feature request: Do not send notifications if post date is older than 1 day | 1 week | 1 month.
Thanks, in advance, for your consideration (or a workaround).
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. Good idea, but you do know that there is a workaround for this, right?
(Temporarily set your blog to private, publish, set it back to public)

I did not know about that thread or the workaround. That will work until there is a solution to the issue.
Thank you!

If you transfer content using Export / Import email’s will not be sent either.
Not sure how fine you can set the Export Filter to single out only a few existing Posts in an older blog.

The content is coming from a Dreamweaver site.
If we were transferring from a WordPress.com site, though, I’d select a month, add a temporary category, and export that category for import.
