How to NOT use parent pages?

    I have six menu headings that I want to use. However, I do not want a drop down menu for the rest of my pages to nest under. I do not know how (or if) I can not list these pages on the menu headings.

    The pages are currently accessible via the main (menu-driven) pages. I have created a seventh menu header of just a ‘.’ simply because the system demanded that I use something.

    Two questions:
    1. Is it possible to not list a parent?
    2. Should I just suck it up and list everything under the appropriate menu header? (personally, I hate the drop down lists that are created)
