how to notify private blog readers that there's a new post?

  I am thinking of opening a private blog to some invited subscribers but can’t for the life of me work out how people will be notified when I update the blog with new posts. Can they subscribe by email in some way? If so, how? And if not – how would I let them know, email them directly? I hope someone can help, this is doing my head in!

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I don’t want to give the blog address at the moment, for obvious reasons, so please just regard this as a general question. Maybe the answer will help other people too.

  Yes

  As far as I know you can use a subscribe by email Widget that your visitors can sign up for – just put it in the sidebar – remember that once a person has signed up for email they can’t be removed by you.

  You could also email them directly and send them a link to the new Post (I do that for my standard site sometimes when a new article might be useful to them)
