how to number comments & use emoticons

  hello,
  i have two questions:

  1. how can i configure my blog so comments will be numbered (so the readers will be able to see which number their comment is)?

  2. how can i make emoticons available for my readers to use in their comments? (without keyboard shortcuts – i want a pallette of emoticons they would be able to use comfortably).

  1. If the theme you are using is not designed to number individual comments, then I don’t think there is anyway to add it. In other words, that function has to be included in the underlying theme files and we do not have access to those.

  2. Emoticons are available here, and this FAQ covers how to enable them, and what character combinations create them: http://support.wordpress.com/smilies/

  Albeo is the only one I can think of right off the top of my head. You can use the theme preview and click on a comment link in it and see the single post page.

  i tried albeo, it gives the numbers but deforms the shape of the whole blog… i’ll have to keep checking.
