How to offset pictures within a blog post

Hi there! As it seems, there was an update to the blog dashboard … which has serious consequences when it comes to arranging pictures within a blog post.

Until now, whenever I placed pictures in a blog post, I had the option to edit that picture (by clicking on it, then clicking on the ‘Edit’ button) and to arrange it exactly by moving it up/down left/right by typing the pixels I wanted to move it.

Now, as it seems, that option doesn’t exist at all anymore!? Which is absolutely terrible because now I’m not able to build blog posts as this one:

If make a new post like that now, there are horizontal gaps between the placed pictures. I don’t know if you are able to open drafts, but here is the link to it (I don’t want to publish it because … well … it just looks terrible):

Please tell me how to move pictures piece by piece with the new dashboard. Please!

The horror continues … and spreads.

First things first: I was able to arrange the pictures via the ‘Text’ function – and by doing a HTML crash course. So ‘Art Wall 02’ is published by now.

But what is even more … erm … impossible for me is to link those pictures with other pictures that I uploaded … and to let those pictures open in a new window.

Once again, before the dashboard / the user interface changed, this was executed by a few simple clicks! All that happens now is:

    – Picture alignment gets destroyed; can’t be fixed if you don’t know HTML

    – Linked-to-picture opens in same window; can’t be fixed if you don’t know HTML

Am I stupid or is the dashboard / user interface really that limited after the latest update!?

    Ok … so …

Made it happen by copying the html code from

    http://knowyourgods.wordpress.com/2014/01/30/art-wall-01/

changing the filenames AND (because it still didn’t work) manually editing the code once more. Up and running now:

BUT: That does change nothing about the fact that – if it’s true that it’s actually not possible to edit pictures like you could a few weeks ago – tihs is a MASSIVE throwback in usability and user convenience!

Sure, blogging via WP is free of charge … but why make it worse?

So: I still want to know if I’m stupid or if the dashboard actually changed that way. Therefore: Thanks in advance for your support.

No you are not stupid – it is an improvement in our user experience and you should be gushing with praise at how cleaver they have been in getting us all to use HTML again.

See image size complaints in this forum.

    @dasmanuel
davidalockwood is correct. Staff have been improving the Images Editor and the Visual Editor. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-paste-as-word-button-has-been-removed-from-the-visual-editor?replies=6

If you have questions or concerns about the changes to the Image Editor in particular, we ask that you post your feedback in the following thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/image-resize-1?replies=15

I am sorry but I don’t have enough patience to scroll through that thread to see if your questions are answered there or not.

Jupp. Commented over at that big rant thread, too.

Didn’t think about looking after ‘image size’ though, because I usually never change the original size manually …
