How to organize by topic?

Can someone please explain how to have different topics at the top of the page (where home, about, contact, and blog) currently are? I want to add the different subjects of what I write about (and some drop down sub topics) but even if I write a blog post and put it in the “news” category and create a “news” tab, the “news” tab doesn’t show articles. Only the blog tab shows articles??? I want it to be like a real news website where you can choose news, beauty, tech, etc.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello ,
You can create Custom Menus , where you can add more Menu options and create Sub Menus for them. You can keep them as Categories as you want them like News , also keep in mind while creating a Post you have to select the category you want them to be in so they will appear in your desired Menu Category as well.
To get some more information about Customizing your blog here is some information https://en.support.wordpress.com/customize/

Also here is some detailed information about Menus ,

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further information…! Would be happy to help…! :)

  • One more link to go along with @pavanraheja’s fantastic answer :)

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/

That page explains how WordPress takes the categories you assign to your posts (News, Beauty, Tech, etc.) and builds a page for each one, automatically. It also shows you how to add those category pages to you menu :)

wow, going to check these out but thanks so much! Yes, I created all of the categories (main 5) and then subcategories (i.e. under beauty there is nails) and have put all of my drafts in these categories. When I made the ‘news’ menu item it did not auto-add my post that i had in the “news” category in there, which was why I was confused. Hopefully these links will teach me how :D Thanks again for your quick responses!

Guys- figured it out! Got the basic tabs set up…now how to add the subcategories….

  • Once you’ve created your subcategories, and published posts under them, you can use My Site > Menus to add them to the menu.

Once you have added the sub categories, drag them up and down to reposition them. Put them below the category you want them listed under, then drag them to the right a little bit. If you indent them a little, they’ll become a submenu under the item just above :)

@Chad good to hear from you :) . Thanks for the additional link which made it more easier , which I just expressed in words, its displayed in images :)
Also probably a demo of adding Sub categories with a visual support document might be of great help for users :)
    Will be connected. Cheers.
