How to organize my blog into categories and dates posted instead of one page?
-
I’m trying to figure out how I can set up my wordpress site so that instead of one page with all my blogs, I can organize my blog posts into a category, or date posted menu so visitors can access certain articles instead of scrolling up and down on the first page and browsing all of my blogs. How would I go about this in the dashboard?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The first thing you’ll want to do is to add category pages to your menu as explained here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
This way, readers can find posts based on the category by clicking in your menu bar.
Then, if you no longer want the front page to display a list of your most recent posts, you can set a static page as described here:
Would that work for what you’re looking for?

Thank you much Jeremy. Interesting website by the way.
The only problem now is I want to be able to take my posts and put them under the menu for Blog Topics (which I created as a sub-menu under Home page). As far as I can see,I don’t know how to get posts into the menu subsections. Do you understand where my confusion is?
Thanks,
Brian Berger

Hey Brian,
Did you remove the sub-menu from your site? I don’t see any sub-menu items on your custom menu here:
https://humansarewe.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
Are you trying to have a direct link to each post on the menu? If so, you’ll need to add each post as a custom link as explained here:
There isn’t a way to have new posts automatically added to the menu.
However, if you would just like to add the categories as menu items so that users can click on the category and see all of the included posts, you can do that following the instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/#step-3-add-the-category-pages-to-your-menu
Let me know if that helps to clarify!

Jeremey,
Thank you much. Yes I did remove the sub-menu from the menu categories. I will keep our conversations for future reference. I haven’t thought of categories I am going to be talking about. Just Intellectual blogs on different topics of importance. I am very appreciative of your help. Great Work!

P.S. besides the technical aspects of your helping me, I encourage you to browse my site humansarewe.com, as I did yours. Very interesting work on your site Jeremey.
