How to paste an Excel Chart into a wordpress page
-
Hi,
I am cutting and pasting an article into a wordpress page. The article has charts that are made in excel (but copied and pasted into Word). When I paste article from Word to wordpress, the charts do not show up. How do I change this? Its not as if I can do upload file since the charts are just objects not files. Thanks

Don’t paste directly from MS Word: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/why-not-to-use-word/ .
You will have all kinds of problems. Use the paste from Word icon in the extended tool bar: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/ .
Tables in posts have to be html tables which have to be hand coded in html. WordPress does not provide any way to make tables in the editor they use. WordPress, and the web in general do not recognize Excel tables.
Your best bet may be to upload the excel or Word document to a third party site such as box.net and then provide a link to that file in your post, or use the box.net widget: http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/04/23/using-the-boxnet-widget/ .

Actually, you can upload Word files to wordpress. They won’t show as a post, but you can link to them so that people can download them.

Why don’t you just make screenshots of the excel charts? If they are supposed to be only informative charts (i.e. don’t have to be “interective”) screenshots will do.
