How to Paste Without Losing All the Formatting ?
-
Every time I copy and paste formatted text from web sites and paste it directly into my blog posts WP removes all formatting and hyperlinks!
Wish to retain the copied formatted text. Sometimes the formatted text will be visible when pasted using Ctrl+V but it is the exception and not the rule. TIA
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Tried the Paste from Word option but that doesn’t work. Hope it is clear that I am not copying from a formatted Word.DOC It is formatted HTML text from websites that I am copying that is stripped of formatting when pasting into my new post. Quite laborious adding manually all the hyperlinks and formatted text.

Having looked at your blog again, you have a MUCH MUCH bigger problem. You are stealing copyrighted material.
You’re allowed to quote a paragraph or two. You are not allowed to post entire articles. It is illegal and against the terms of service here and you have to stop that, take down the copyrighted materials, and start writing your own blog posts or your blog will be suspended.
-
Thank you for your information. I was not aware that I was infringing on any rights. A good deal of the posts are re-blogged from other sites. I will review the posts that are copyrighted. It’s a BIG job that will take me some time as I have over 730 posts so far. I have always added the source of the information and never have had any complaints. Whenever it has been possible I have always notified the author of the posts. In the interim period, as I review the posts that may have copyright issues I will add to my About page a notification requesting to be notified of any copyright issues. They will be dealt with immediately and removed from my blog.
Regardless of the former. The formatting issue remains unresolved.

ALL of the posts are copyrighted. All original work is copyrighted at the moment of creation. Unless you specifically sought and received permission to post EACH of these articles, they are all stolen. It is not incumbent upon the victims of theft to notify the thief. It is incumbent upon the thief not to steal.
Nobody will assist you with stealing more effectively.

The following has been added to my About page while I review the possible infringements:
** I have been notified by WordPress.com that I have posted copyrighted material on my blog. I was unaware of this infringement and as I review the posts that have copyrighted material I would appreciate if you are the author of whatever may have been inadvertently posted on my blog, to notify me and the post will be immediately removed. Thank you and sorry for the error.

I thought copyrighted material specifically stated that it was so. Are you saying that I need the express permission of each author to re-blog his entire article if it exceeds 2 paragraphs ?
If I truncate all the posts to 2 paragraphs would that be acceptable and within the terms of service of WordPress.com ? -
I am quite clear on copyright: copyrighted material does not have to be marked as such. ALL original material is automatically covered by copyright at the time of creation.

OK. I understand what you are saying.

Should have been able to rectified all of the 730 posts by the end of the week. Whoever reviews any possible infringement conflicts will hopefully be aware that those posts that I have received permission by the authors have been duly mentioned in each pertinent post. If I have missed some detail, IMHO, I believe it would be kind to inform me so that I can rectify the issue rather than suspend my blog without any warning. Doing my best to comply as fast as possible. Peace.

Under that premise, are you also referring to all the re-posted YouTube videos and images that have been obtained from Google’s image search ? Which I always believed to be freely available for non commercial use and are widely used throughout the internet on websites and blogs.
There are many articles that give express permission to re-blog as long as there are no changes made and the entire article and source are mentioned. I assume that I will not be accused of “theft” by re-posting them.

images that have been obtained from Google’s image search ?
every image is copyrighted, being on Google search does not remove the copyright. Unless the image expressly grants you the right to use the image you are stealing. If you use an image that you got for a site that stole the image then you are also guilty of being a thief and run the risk of your site being taken down
PS – Raincoaster understands the copyright stuff very well

PS – Raincoaster understands the copyright stuff very well
ie: on Raincoaster’s site http://raincoaster.com/about/ there is an image of Theda Bara with no express mention of permission granted for it’s use on his site, is one to assume it is implied ? How is the information concerning the use or permission of any image on the web determined ?

The following header has been added to my blog while I make the relevant changes to the posted material:
If you are the author of any content posted in this blog and consider that your copyright has been violated, please contact me at çççç (at) hotmail.com and it will be removed immediately. The purpose of this blog is to share information without any infringements on personal rights. If I have done so, please forgive me and I will rectify the situation upon notification

Further Investigation into the issue that was originally posted, I have discovered that it seems to be definitely browser related. It appears to be related as to how formatted text is COPIED, not pasted from specific browsers.
Tested the following scenarios:
> Opened ONLY Comodo Dragon (Chrome based) and copied formatted text from a site within that browser. When pasting the text into a new post on WordPress.com, formatting was lost.
>> Opened Opera Next and copied the formatted text from Comodo Dragon to WordPress and the formatting was lost.
>> With both Opera Next and Comodo Dragon open, copied the same formatted text from the same site within Opera Next and pasted it into WordPress and formatting remained intact.
> Pasting the formatted text from Opera Next into Comodo Dragon ALSO maintained the formatting intact.Hope that this information may be of use to those with a similar issue.
Regret that the original thread was so totally derailed.
