how to permanently remove PDF file from WordPress
-
I’ve deleted some PDF files from my site (www.carolynjoneswrites.com) but the URL is still bringing up the documents. How do I remove these PDFs permanently from WordPress?
I’ve already submitted a URL removal request to Google Webmaster (and it was approved), but the actual files are still available if you have the URL. I tried to save a new PDF file in order to over-write it but WordPress determines the directory (based on date) so I cannot even overwrite the old file.
I’d be grateful for any advice.
Thank you.

Depending on how long ago you permanently deleted those files from your trash bin, it may still take a little while for it to shake out of the system. From the TOS:
If you delete Content, Automattic will use reasonable efforts to remove it from the Website, but you acknowledge that caching or references to the Content may not be made immediately unavailable.
If this is an urgent situation, you can contact: support at wordpress dot com

Thanks for the reply. It’s not clear how long it will take for it to come out of the system and the TOS are vague on this point. Unfortunately WordPress support is offline for the rest of the month. Thank you for clarifying how it works. I appreciate it.

Again, if this is an urgent situation you can contact support at the email address I gave in my reply just above yours. :)
