How to place header image at very top of page
-
Im quite new to wordpress, and also with html in general, but i feel i’m learning very fast.
And i’m trying to place my header image at the very top of my wordpress page.
I was originally assuming I would go into header.php, and find the solution there… or should I be looking in the style.css??
Im using dreamweaver, and so on the design view, Im just deleted the little ‘php’ tags… which doesn’t quite do it..There has to be a simple way that I just cant seem to find.
Thank you in advance for any help on this!!

Hello there,
We cannot access template files and edit templates and themes here at wordpress.com. Many of the over 100 themes we have do allow for a custom header image and they are listed here. For the best possible image quality size the header to fit prior to uploading it. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/The only themes we can use are located here > Appearance > Themes
You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.

If you can see and edit PHP files, it means you have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG blog and are in the wrong forum and you should ask your question on http://wordpress.org/support
If it is a WordPress.com file indeed that you are editing then please follow timethief’s advice.

OOPS! I’m sorry. I just noticed this thread is in the CSS customization forum. I’m sorry. We have 2 Volunteers that help with CSS and one will find this thread and help you when they log-in.

Okay, I guess I demonstrated perfectly my newby-ness. Really, I didn’t even know there was a difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. But yes, I do have my own web host, I downloaded wordpress, and uploaded it to my server.
So am I correct in guessing that wordpress.com is for wordpress hosted blog sites that really can’t be altered, and wordpress.org is all about using wordpress on your own server?
