How to post an m4a music file from iTunes?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am unable to post a song purchased from iTunes. It is an m4a file which is supposed to be compatible. I have the space upgrade. I can convert it to mP3, but I think that the m4a would sound better. The song is “Princess of China” The mP3 version is posted, but it doesn’t sound clear on my excellent speakers. Please advise re music quality and posting songs from iTunes. Thank you

  • You can only post it as an MP3 due to a limitation in Flash, which we use for the player.

However, unless you have the legal rights to distribute the music, I don’t recommend posting it.

Thank you. I can understand that if I were distributing the actual music file, but the readers of my blog are just playing it back. Is this different from someone emailing a song to his email list? Is this different from playing music at a party?

If someone forwarded my post to a friend, how is that different from someone forwarding an article that contains a copywrite photograph?

    Thanks Paul @Blogfinger

Yes, it’s different from playing music at a party depending on how you define distribution. However, please note that we are not lawyers and we do not give out legal advice. Each blog owner is responsible for the content and files they post to their own blog as per our Terms of Service. http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

If you would like definitive answers about legal questions about what you are and are not allowed to post, you should consult a lawyer.
