How to prevent header image resizing

I’m using the Automate theme from Appendipity. I uploaded my header image, which is 1152×405 pixels. If viewed on a phone, the header looks perfect on the theme. If viewed in a browser on a PC it looks fine if the browser is not at full size. It displays as 1152×405 pixels and takes up the full width across the blog space. However, if I go to full screen on the browser suddenly the image resizes to much less than 1152×405 pixels and is just a tiny image in the corner of the screen.

Now, the Automate theme has the following note next to the header image option: Any size image will work, but if you are using the Header Right widget area, then the image will show at a max width of 536px.

This appears to be what’s happening. When my browser is at full screen it is resizing the image to only 536px wide. Yet, I’m not using the Header Right widget area. So why is it doing this and how can I fix it?

Here are some pics in case what I described doesn’t make a lot of sense:

    With browser small
    With browser at full screen
