how to protect the site with a password
-
My site is for my new born baby. I want to share the blog with my all family. Many of them are not so comfortable with IT. I then don’t want the site public (some of my relatives are not happy to see their own kids on a public site) neither that everyone needs to register to wordpress to have an account (older people will be lost).
I saw that we can have a page with password protection. I can use it to redefine the front page with a password but it is easy to bypass and find all published posts.
My question : Could we block the website with one initial password (that I can share within my family) ? thanks a lot for your help. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The entire site cannot be blocked with a password, it can only be set to private, which requires readers to login to WordPress.com.
But you can block each post and page individually with password protection:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#password-protect-a-post
And you can just use the same password each time.
That support article uses screenshots from the old /wp-admin/ post editor, but this feature is also available in the new editor under Advanced Settings:
