This is an empty blog dating back to 2010. https://eugeniebrin.wordpress.com/
We provide support here only for WordPress.COM hosted blogs. I’m sorry but we cannot provide accurate answers to any blogger who fails to provide the exact URL starting with http:// for the exact blog they refer to so we can verify where it is hosted. Please do that now.
-
Sorry about that.
Here is the blog I’m working on. The thing is that I first connected to wordpress in 2010, but didn’t really published any website.
I’m currently trying to publish a website for a restaurant now.
To make things easier, I first tried with my account, adding the site https://odeuxsoeurs.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
which I want to customize as the theme Harmonic (with pages like sections, big pictures…)What I can’t manage to do is to create the different pages and make them appear with those big pictures we can see on the theme.
Hope I clarified the situation!

Hi eugenibrin,
It sounds like you are trying to make the front page of your site look the same as the Harmonic demo, is that right?
If so, here are the instructions for that.
https://harmonicdemo.wordpress.com/front-page-setup/
If that feels a lot to do all at once, let me know and I’ll walk you through it step by step.

Hello,
And thanks for your reply. I’m looking at the demo, trying to sorting things out.
I did create the pages (2 for the beginning), but then, when I publish the pages, I get the Harmonic demo website with my content but some pics appears I don’t know from where. Whereas the pics I uploaded don’t show up.
Strange. http://odeuxsoeurs.wordpress.com/So I might need your help with that.
Thanks! -

It looks like you got this to work correctly on this site: https://eugenibrin.wordpress.com/
Is that what you were going for or do you need additional support?

Actually it looks like it’s working but it’s not : those pictures are not mine, and I can’t manage very well the menu on the home page.
The site you directed me to was my first test. The one I sent you is the one I really want to publish and I had the same issue.
I can’t manage to get the menu scrolling down and get the same menu on the top bar of the site.On this site, there’s the ‘project’ section that appears, which I don’t want.
Also, the top menu is not the same than the one on the bottom. I don’t get it…Hope I was clear. Indeed I need additional support!
Thanks for your help! -
Thanks for clarifying. Let’s break this down step by step.
those pictures are not mine
One you get your front page set up the way you like, you can assign your own photos to each section using the customizer. We’ll discuss exactly how that works later in the process.
I can’t manage to get the menu scrolling down and get the same menu on the top bar of the site.
I’m not sure what you mean by “scrolling down,” but your site has 3 menus.
The one in the top left corner of your site is for social links and will automatically display the icon for the social media site to which it links. The one in the top right corner is the main menu. This is where you link to the other pages on your site.
These two menus are controlled using the regular WordPress.com menu features.
The third menu is at the bottom of the front page template and it moves between sections on the front page. Once you have your front page set up, you set the section titles for this menu using the customizer.
The other potential issue is you seem to be trying to get the content from the pages “ÉPICERIE” and “CARTE” to appear on the front page. I’m afraid that’s not how the theme works.
There are 5 possible sections you can display on your front page. Here is a description of those sections:
- Title: Displays your site’s title and tagline. If you opt for a Site Logo, it will be displayed instead of the site title.
- News: Displays your latest posts.
- Page: Displays the page title and content from the Front Page Template.
- Widgets: A special widget area only displayed on the front page.
- Portfolio Front: If you have a portfolio, your most recent projects are displayed here.
The page content appears in the “Page” section. The other sections pull their content from other parts of the site in a set format. You can decide which sections appear in the customizer (Click theme, then visibility in the customizer menu), but you can’t add multiple page sections to the front page.
Here are my recommended Next steps.
- Decide which of your pages (“ÉPICERIE” or “CARTE”) you want to be your front page and set it as the front page using the customizer.
- Decide which sections you want to appear on your front page and remove the others by going to Theme>Visibility in the customizer
- Add your own photos and customized footer text to each section of your front page under Theme in the customizer window. Each section that you’ve left as visible will show up in the theme menu after visibility.
That should get you a lot closer to where you want to be.
If you run into any more problems, or have more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi
Thanks for your last message, it was really complete and helpful.
I think I’m good now.I have 2 other questions now :
– I can’t publish the portfolio on the home page. It’s published, I can see the page here https://odeuxsoeurs.wordpress.com/portfolio/o-deux-soeurs/
but I thought I could see it on the home page. What can I do! (everything should be ok, in the apparence, I didn’t hide the page)– also, how can add the address with a gmaps pic on the bottom home page? Can’t find it in the widgets…
And looks like it’s possible when I see the Harmonic demo..Thanks for your help!

I’m also wondering, when I click on a page (like for instance Camion), has the title section to stay? I’m annoyed with that, it looks like it’s always the same page…

I can’t publish the portfolio on the home page
Your portfolio item is actually appearing on the home page, it’s just that you only have one item, and it doesn’t have a featured image, so it’s showing up as a white box. If you add a featured image to the portfolio project it will show up as expected. It looks like you have several sets of photos in the one portfolio entry. It would work better if you made a separate portfolio entry for each. Do you know what I mean?
also, how can add the address with a gmaps pic on the bottom home page? Can’t find it in the widgets…
That’s the contact info widget. If you look again, you should be able to find it in the list of available widgets. Let me know if you need extra help.
when I click on a page (like for instance Camion), has the title section to stay? I’m annoyed with that, it looks like it’s always the same page…
It looks like all of your pages are using the front page template. That’s why they look the same. If you change the template for your other pages they will look normal.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

I’m sorry I don’t get what you meant with featured image for the portfolio. I can’t seem to find where I have to upload the images, apart from the ‘media’.
Did you mean that I sould add a portfolio for each picture? I would like to add a gallery…Regarding the widget, thanks I found it. Still, I added it but it’s not showing up on the home page, as well as the Facebook one… weird
For the pages with the front page template, it’s removed. Thanks for that!
One last thing (I hope), I want to add a contact sheet, but I don’t want it to be affiliated with a specific page. I looked in the widgets but it’s not one… Any idea? Thanks a lot!!

I don’t get what you meant with featured image for the portfolio
You can add featured images to portfolio projects the same way you add them to a post or a page.
For example, here’s the edit page for one of your portfolio projects:
https://odeuxsoeurs.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=59&action=editIf you scroll down you’ll see the option to “set featured image” at the bottom of the right column. Which ever image you attach there will “represent” the portfolio project on the front page of your site.
Regarding the widget, thanks I found it. Still, I added it but it’s not showing up on the home page as well as the Facebook one… weird
You’ve chosen to hide the widget section on your front page. If you go to theme>visibility in your customizer menu, and uncheck the “Hide Widgets Section” box, the widgets will appear.
One last thing (I hope), I want to add a contact sheet, but I don’t want it to be affiliated with a specific page. I looked in the widgets but it’s not one
You can do this by adding the contact form short code to a text widget.
The easiest way to do this is to generate the code you want on a text page by following the instructions here.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
Then, copy and paste the resulting short code into a text widget. Here’s more information on how text widgets work.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
If you have any trouble with that, let me know and I’ll be happy to help you get unstuck.
