How to put a bubbleshare slideshow on my blog?
-
Hi, How do I put a bubbleshare slideshow onto my blog? When I paste the codes in HTML mode and publish it, only part of the code remains. How do I go about doing it?
-
We need:
A) a link to your blog, starting with http
B) the code you’re trying to paste, set between backticks so it displays properly in the forum
C) to know whether or not you’ve searched the FAQ to determine if bubbleshare is one of the supported media here at WP.com. -
Hi,
A) http://joy2lio.wordpress.com
B)<!–<embed FlashVars=”rss_feed=http://www.bubbleshare.com/rss/532415/feed.xml&loop=true&autoPlay=true” align=”middle” allowScriptAccess=”always” bgcolor=”#ffffff” height=”475″ pluginspage=”http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer” quality=”high” src=”http://assets.bubbleshare.com/swfs/player.swf?20081205191222″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”600″>BubbleShare: Share photos – <span style=”font-size:100%;”>Play some Online Games.</span>
</span></span>–>
c)No, but bubbleshare can optimise for wordpress so I presume it would be alright?
Pls help!
Thanks.Cheers,
-
No, there are several kinds of WordPress. WordPress.com has more security restrictions on it, because we share the backbones of our blogs with everyone else. Flash is disabled, except for certain pre-approved forms like YouTube, Slideshare, etc. Bubbleshare does not appear to be among the approved ones, so the code will not work.

joy2lio,
I noticed that you have several bubbleshare slideshows on your website now. Would you share how you managed to do it (step by step please)? Thank you. -
I always use Bubbleshare. Her is the code for one of my slideshows. The code must be followed exactly…it is not quite the one that Bubbleshare gives you. Also, it must be inserted in the editor as code.
Greenwich Village Memories
<p align=”center”><iframe src=”http://www.bubbleshare.com/album/206792/mini?interval=8&size=580×435&style=square” marginheight=”0″ marginwidth=”0″ frameborder=”0″ height=”474″ scrolling=”no” width=”594″></iframe></div></p>

Note that the p tags are irrelevant (just for aligning), and the div tag in there is wrong (will mess sidebar etc.).
Anyway I tried the code in my test blog, and strangely it doesn’t get stripped away. But the slideshow isn’t displayed either: when I refresh the page, I get the file itself downloaded in my computer.
Disembedded, could you please give us a link to a post with this in action?

I’m not sure if it makes a difference, but that blog appears to be:
content=”WordPress MU” -
-
Interesting. Unlike panos, the code just gets stripped out when I test it. I also checked out vivian’s reference. Don’t know what I’m missing.
-
One note of interest is that I used to be able to look at source code and on a .COM blog, it always said,
<meta name="generator" content="WordPress.com" />but lately I’ve been seeing wordpress MU popping up in that string and in a few instances, nothing at all.It would be nice if staff would get them all to say wordpress.COM so in instances where people have hidden he admin bar and/or the footer, I don’t have to go looking through links further down to find out if it is self-hosted or not.

1tess,
You have to insert it with HTML tab, then publish. Visual tab won’t take it when you publish.
-
tsp,
That’s interesting to know. I used the ‘find’ feature in Safari to see the MU reference and didn’t look farther.disembedded,
Ok, I think I did switch back to visual, then published. -

@Vivian: Thanks! The source code is similar to the one given above. Tried it, same result. But I had only checked the result in Safari. In Firefox, the slideshow showed up alright.
And then I tried the “official” way… and it worked (in both Firefox and Safari):
[bubbleshare ID]
where ID is the six-digit number…
