How to put a password on entry to site?
-
Hi!
We’d like to keep this blog private, for friends and family, but don’t want to inconvience them by making them create word press accounts. How do I set up a password on the homepage to access the content? -
Hi. You can find info for this here: https://wordpress.com/support/using-membership-plugins/ and there is also a possibility to put your site private. Therefor you go to manage>settings>privacy.

Hi there, just to explain a bit further, site privacy can only be truly controlled via making your site Private and inviting visitors who will need to set up their own WPcom account. More on this here: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/
If you password protect a page or post, that is only as secure as the people who have the password and whether or not the computer they are using is a public computer. More on this in our guide at: https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/
Let us know if you have any other question about this.
