how to put categories in leftbar?

  8hi all,

  I am new to wp, I want to develop a tutorial site.

  I want an area on left side which represent a technology and the tuorial page is opened by clicking an item in this area.

  for example the turotials about different technologies ie Microsoft, Oracle, wordpress, Joomla etc, have a link in this area.

  Can I use the categories for this purpose? and how to do this?

  If you want a theme that features 2 columns with the left being a sidebar for widget use then you can use the searchbox in the theme forum to find one http://wordpress.com/themes/

  Like @timethief suggested, you can search for themes with left sidebars on our Theme Showcase. Here’s a list of all of our themes with left sidebars.

  Our custom menu widget is a great way to accomplish what you’d like to do. First, you’d create a custom menu that links to all of your categories. Then you would use the custom menu widget to display that menu in your sidebar.
