How to put featured image on homepage?

I’m using the Untitled theme by Automattic. I successfully uploaded my featured image onto every page but my homepage. How do I do this? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you aware that by default the front page of the blog displays all posts in the blog?
-
The detailed theme description is here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/untitled/
Scroll down to “To set up Untitled’s Front Page Slider”

If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options. http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-optionsClick for other threads on the Untitled theme.

Ohh, true. So I added the featured image to the one post that I have currently, and now it’s showing up. Does this mean though that I’ll have to re-add the image every time I make a new post?
Also, I now have the black scroller on top of the image. Is there a way for me to hide or get rid of that?
