How to put “Hightlight Stories”
-
My site, AngryRantNews.com brings MMO News/Articles daily. But I am having issues with my older articles which are very famous don’t have a highlight section. For example, on Massively.com on the top they have 4 sections and each section has a highlight’d story “Like one of it is Create my Champion”.
My story is, with my template currently, how can I create a highlight section? Can I do it with code and put it on the right side? I have no code experience so any tool I can use? Any way I can do it?
Please let me know, thank you.

The only way I can think of doing this, is that you could place your “Featured Story(ies)” inside a text widget, and you’d place that text widget at the top of your sidebar; in other words, it should be the first.
If you don’t have the CSS upgrade to make it stand out, you could try something like this:
<div style="background: #879675; color: #ccc;"> <ul> <li><a href="URL-TO-POST">Featured Story 1</a></li> <li><a href="URL-TO-POST">Featured Story 2</a></li> ... ... </ul> </div>The background color in the div tag is the same green your header has. That’s, of course, a sample/suggested color, but you could use any other color.

@devblog Thank you very much, that is what I’m looking for. But now for
<li><a href="URL-TO-POST">Featured Story 2</a></li>can I replace the text and instead people click on the picture to go to the web link? If so how? Also like any code to auto format the pictures I put to all align together width and height size. -
No problem.
To use an image instead of text, do this:
<li><a href="URL-TO-POST"><img src="PATH-TO-IMGFILE" title="IMAGE TITLE" alt="IMAGE DESCRIPTION (can be the same as the title)" width="IMG-WIDTH" height="IMG-HEIGHT" /></a></li>Just make sure the image is not wider than the sidebar… otherwise it’ll look weird.
