How to put static text above header on ‘Page’, pref alt text for 2 pages?
-
Hi.
I was able to change the ‘single’ template and insert a quote block before the header so a quote shows before the header. That quote shows the same on all the ‘posts’.
Is there a way to put a quote block before the header on the ‘page’ template where you can put different text in each ‘page’?
ie: The ‘Contact’ page might have one quote, and the ‘Archives’ page might have a different quote , and that text shows up ABOVE the header (or they might just say ‘contact’ and ‘archive’ so the pages look different at the top when opened).Kindly advise.
Thank you very much. Have a great day.

The short answer is – there isn’t a way to add an empty quote block to the general Page template in the Site Editor, and customize the contents on a per-page basis.
What you can do however is create a dedicated custom template per page, and add each unique quote to that individual custom page template:
https://wordpress.com/support/templates/When the template is created and saved, you can apply it to the page it’s intended for using this setting:

Worked great, thank you! Can the same be done for the Archives sub page?
For example, on the Archives page, you see the month (February) and the number of posts. When you click on “February” it takes you to a list of posts for that month. Is there a way to do the same so I can put something to the effect of “These are the posts from that month” at the top before the header?
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. Have a great day.

Update: I found the sub-Archive page. Your help put me in the right direction, thank you! My last question on this topic is if there is any way to put text at the top that would display the month/year that is being listed on that page?
IE: On the Archive page, I click on “February 2023”. I’m then taken to a page that lists all the posts made during Feb 2023. I would like the top of the page to say “February 2023”. The March page would say “March 2023”, and so on.
Can that be done?
Thank you very much. Have a great day.

Hey there,

On the Archive page, I click on “February 2023”. I’m then taken to a page that lists all the posts made during Feb 2023.
Yes, this can be done dynamically in the query loop block, by adding a post date block in the archive page.
To explain, I’ve created this screenshot for you.

Something to bare in mind, is that this will show for tags and category archives also.
I hope this helps.

Hi. Thank you for the reply. That shows me what I’m looking for is already there, I just need to copy and move it. Then I can reformat it.
I made a screenshot :)
I can “duplicate” the block, but can’t move it to the desired location.

Hi @eyeofthewolfe , I see you’ve got a paragraph up there already. Try typing a slash there to see what blocks are available. I’m wondering if “Archive Title” will work.

PERFECT! Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you very, VERY much!
I really appreciate your help, and the assistance of all those who have contributed. For what’s it’s worth, you’ve made a huge difference.
