How to re-organize categories in an intelligent manner?

  Hi everyone.

  I have 50 posts in my blog. (http://gigdoggy.wordpress.com)
  I would like to re-organize my categories but am under the impression I have to go in every single post and assign them to the new categories i have created.

  Isn’t there a better way to do this?

  Example:
  imagine you have a blog on sports. you have the following categories:
  puck, ice, goal, soccer, ball, base, and whatever.

  you then want to put puck, ice and goal in a new category ‘hockey’
  how to do it without going in all the post and assigning them to hockey?

  Sorry, but there’s no way to mass edit your categories. They have to be done individually.

  that can be massive task.

  i tried to used parent categories, but the children are still visible in my category section.
