How to recover a mapped domain?
-
@ultramodern9 Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?
-
Hi there,
Same problem, i was mapped to http://blacksheepstudioswa.wordpress.com/
That blog is gone now and i would like to link to a new one.
Thanks for your help :)Steve

@blacksheepstudioswa The blog has been deleted, which is permanent and the name cannot be used again.
You can start a new blog by logging in to WordPress.com and then going to this link:

@ultramodern9 Your domain works fine on this end. If you still encounter issues, please follow the instructions from my previous reply:

I attempted to map a WordPress.org site to a WordPress.com site over the weekend, and aborted it. I am trying again now, following directions sent to me by a WordPress support person, and I keep getting the message: “The domain name you entered is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog.”
But it doesn’t tell me what the next steps are. When I type in my domain name (brooklynbackstretch.com), I get the old, .com site, not the new, .org one.
-
@tgenaro It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=brooklynbackstretch.com
Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf you don’t know how to do this you can contact your domain registrar for help.

The domain itself is already mapped to your blog. However, it might take a little while before the nameserver records are fully propagated.
If it doesn’t work yet you could try to clear your browser cache and cookies using the guide below:

@kardotim Yep, already created a new one and wanted to link my domain name to the new one, hence why i asked the question of how to remove the link to the old one once it has been deleted. Thanks
-
@kardotim What appears to be happening now is that the old blog at WordPress.org has “taken over” the new one at WordPress.com. When I type in (email visible only to moderators and staff), I get re-directed to brooklynbackstretch.com.
What should be happening is that brooklynbackstretch.com takes me to the .com site, not the .org site.

Hi,
What’s the use of DNS Records…. such as: A, MX, NS, CNAME? what is the right to choose…
-
Hi,
when I checked “MY DOMAINS”.. I HAVE 2 DOMAINS, “Statisticsdoctor.com”, and “wwwdotstatisticsdotcom.wordpress.com”..
1. are these 2 the same?
2. can I maintain only one? or this is fine.
3. when I update, modify, post articles either of these 2 domains, is it automatically applies to other domain. Say, if I did modifications or post an article to statisticsdoctor.com, is it automatic that the content of “wwwdotstatisticsdotcom.wordpress.com” will also change? -
@blacksheepstudioswa I see. The expired domain mapping has been removed now. Feel free to purchase a new domain mapping upgrade if you want to. You can do this at Store -> My Domains on your blog’s dashboard.
What should be happening is that brooklynbackstretch.com takes me to the .com site, not the .org site.
It should do that now, if not then please follow these instructions.
@ultramodern9 there was still an old linked blog on your account, I’ve just removed this for you. Statisticsdoctor.com redirects to wwwdotstatisticsdotcom.wordpress.com. They both go to the same site. You can keep maintaining it at http://statisticsdoctor.com/wp-admin
-
@Kardotim,
you mean to say. I will just going to maintain and edit my website to http://statisticsdoctor.com/wp-admin
-
@kardotim– Thanks for the response. I’ve cleared the cache multiple times and still no good. At least now, tgenaro.wordpress.com points to the right site; last night, it went, inexplicably, to the old .org site.
But brooklynbackstretch.com still brings up the old .org site. Thanks for the suggestions.
-
@tgenaro I suggest to wait for a little longer. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours before they are fully propagated.
@ultramodern9 correct :)
