How to recover a mapped domain?
-
@kardotim. Thank you for your help so far, and it seems that the propagation is complete and successful, and I appreciate your help.
I have not so far been able to re-map my e-mail, though, which uses the same domain. I haven’t been able to find any useful information online about it or in your forums. Currently, my e-mail is being forwarded, but that can’t work as a permanent solution.
Any advice you have would be appreciated. Thank you.

@tgenaro The e-mail forwarding solution is pretty useful because gmail allows you to set a different sent address: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370?hl=en
If you already have e-mail hosting then you can follow the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-other-email/

Thanks, @kardotim. I’ve done all that, at least to the extent of my ability. Is it possible that the blog domain is propagated before e-mail and this is just a matter of timing? It’s been days since that was set up. Thank you again.

Thank you very much. I changed the records several times, but none seem to have worked. I appreciate your help very much.
-
@kardotim — Did you turn off the e-mail forwarding to my other e-mail account? Will turning it back on affect adversely the propagation? Thanks.
-
@tgenaro it had to be turned off because otherwise the new MX records didn’t go through. It seems the propagation is done: https://www.whatsmydns.net/#MX/brooklynbackstretch.com
It won’t be long before everything is back to normal for you again :) Thank you for your patience.

Sorry to be back so quickly, @kardotim, but whatever you did turned off forwarding, which means that I don’t have access to any e-mail at all. Is that what is supposed to happen? I tried to set up forwarding & got this message:
“This domain currently has custom mail servers defined in its DNS settings. This means that WordPress.com Email Forwarding is not available for this domain, and that you should manage your email with your email provider.”
-
@kardotim. OK. Thanks. Sorry for all the messages, but feels like everything I tried had an unexpected consequence that I didn’t understand.
-
@tgenaro if you go to https://tgenaro.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains and click on ‘Edit domain’ you see that Google’s e-mail servers are set, like you had before. I assume that’s what you wanted? Can you confirm that’s your e-mail host?
The e-mail forwarding shouldn’t be enabled when you’re using a different e-mail host (like Google’s).

@kardotim Hello, back again, I’m still getting the same problem, the re-direct still sends me to the old wordpress site. I’ve tried to buy the new re-mapping but get the same error message ‘The domain name you entered is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog’ any ideas? i tried to change the DNS to the wordpress one, no difference.
-
@blacksheepstudioswa You should be able to purchase the domain mapping upgrade for it now. Let me know how it goes.

Your post is completely off-topic for this thread but I will answer it. In the future create your own threads p[lease rather than tagging into a thread and posting off-topic in it.The only way to remove advertising from your blog that WordPress.com places there is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads Upgrade.

Hello, Can you please update my domain mapping so that my domain pepperhands.com maps to pepperhands.wordpress.com instead of aimlessmutterings.wordpress.com? Thanks!!
