How to recover 'www.mywebpage.com'
-
I forgot to renew my webpage on time, and it went back automatically to ‘www.mywebpage.wordpress.com’. When I click in the link from the email ‘Renew’ it does not offer me my original web page address ‘www.mywebpage.com’ but instead ‘www.myweb-page.com’. How could I get back my old address?
(Note: I changed the name of my page, it is just to illustrate the issue)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi shotokanzuerich,
I forgot to renew my webpage on time, and it went back automatically to ‘www.mywebpage.wordpress.com’.
Once your domain expires on WordPress.com, it can be recovered, but this is best done sooner rather than later as this support document
explains.I’ve tagged this thread for staff also, so a member of the WordPress.com support team should be in contact with you soon. Hopefully you can recover your domain quickly!

Hi there,
Can you please provide the actual domain? If it expired recently I might be able to get it back, but I need to know the domain in question to do that.
Using fake addresses like mywebpage.com only makes it take longer to help you as we then need extra steps to get the correct information before we can actually do anything. Had you provided the actual domain you need help with I could have given you all the relevant information in my very first reply, which would have meant the recovery process is started much sooner.

Thank you,
That domain expired on 26 August and is currently in redemption with our registrar. I should still be able to get it back for you at this stage, but once a domain is in redemption we need to pay our registrar $80 to get it back. Let me know if you agree to that fee and I can get the recovery process started for you.

I’ve sent you a link to pay for the recovery. I’ll be notified once we receive payment, then I can contact our registrar to try and get the domain back.
I notice we had to do the same thing last year. Once the domain is restored I strongly recommend you activate automatic renewal so your domain doesn’t expire again next year.
We also send out several reminder emails before a domain expires, but Gmail can sometimes route those to the Updates or Social filters instead of the inbox. Please check if our reminder emails are perhaps there and drag them into your main inbox. That way Gmail will know to send them to the inbox where you will see them in future so we can hopefully prevent your domain from expiring again :)

Hi there,
Just to let you know we’ve received your payment and have contacted our registrar. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

Our registrar has restored your domain and is has been restored to your account. It is again loading your WordPress.com site, so everything seems to be fine.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
