How to redirect WWW.domain.com
-
This may seem like a silly question, but…
I own a domain previously hosted on typepad.com and have now moved and mapped it to a wordpress.com blog without problems. I know that WordPress maps domains without the www. Fine. So now domain.com works, but not http://www.mydomain.com. Will http://www.mydomain.com EVENTUALLY resolve to just domain.com? Just asking, because I have some 300 records on Google’s site index, all with the www, but none of these of course points to my blog…I can of course wait for Google to re-index my blog, but I was thinking I should speed up the process by using Google’s Webmaster Tools to strip off the www. Any thoughts on this? -
wordpress.com will automatically strip the www but it will resolve fine for anyone coming in on a link to http://www.mydomain.com

I guess I just have to wait for the www-DNS to clear from TypePad, because currently my domain http://husdal.com is resolving fine, but not http://www.husdal.com.

The www is resolving fine for me back to husdal.com on wordpress.com so I guess it would be just time for you.

OK, thanks. Just the answer I was looking for. The DNS must be making it’s way around the globe very slooooowly :-)
