How to reduce posts on home page?

  My home page shows all my posts instead of just the last 5 as I have selected in my reading settings. Is there another setting that I haven’t found, or is there anything else I’ve failed to do to stop this happening? I’m reluctant to keep adding posts until I’ve got this addressed/resolved.

  (unchecked “infinity and beyond” setting)
