How to (re)enable podcast/audio enclosures in my feed.
-
At some point in the process of setting up my blog, I was able to get a feed that was properly recognized by iTunes, with a single entry for the one mp3 attachment, etc. However, I’ve clearly done *something* to change that, as the mp3 embedded in the post is no longer recognized by iTunes, and not offered as a downloadable enclosure/attachment in my regular RSS reader.
I’m using the shortcode [audio URL_HERE], which produces the nice flash player, and at some point dropped the referenced mp3 file into the feed, but no longer.
Thoughts?

It turns out that mp3 will not be added as enclosures unless the server you’re hosting them on reports their Content-Type as audio/mpeg. I’m using amazon s3 to host the mp3’s, and the tool I used to upload the first time (s3fox) did not set the Content-Type properly, so wordpress.com didn’t recognize the mp3 link as an mp3.
It seems that having the .mp3 file extension OR a proper Content-Type should be enough for wordpress to recognize the file as a proper enclosure. But, now I know.
