How to reflect Dates and User of a linked WP Page?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a page having two columns(Topic and Last Updated). Each topic is a link to a WP Page. I’d like to show the date(in the Last Updated column) of each linked Page when the linked WP Page is updated. How can I achieve this? Any ideas? Thanks.

    Topic Last Updated.
    A a
    B b
    C c

Are you hosted here at wordpress.com, or are you self-hosted using the software downloaded from wordpress.org?

What is the URL of the blog in question; until your username is linked to your blog, we won’t know if this is a WP.com blog or a WP.org blog and won’t know how to answer.

Hi, My blog is powered by WP.org and currently I have not added the table that I have mentioned in my last post.

Then you are in the wrong place. You need to be asking at WordPress.org’s forums.

I’ve posted the same question at WP.org support forum and so far no body seems to know how to do it. I’ve seen many non-wordpress forums having such column reflects the date of a linked page. It doesn’t appear to be WordPress dot com or org specific. I was hoping someone here would have some clue. Oh well. Thanks anyways.

No-one here can help you. This is the wrong forum.

WordPress.com and wordpress.org are different software. This is a multiuser version and we have no access to the underlying files, except the CSS via the upgrade.

Here is a link that explains the differences: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700&page&replies=1

By the way, since you are on wordpress.org software, you do not need the CSS upgrade. That is only something that is needed here at .com.

    Thanks, thesacredpath.

raincoaster, Even if you owned this forum, there is no need to be so harch about someone asking a question. It would be sad if you represent the entire WP.com support forum.

    @mist9
    You’re welcome.

Any answers we would give you here would very likely be wrong since the software, and what we can do here vs. what can be done on self-hosted wordpress.org blogs, is very different.

In your original post to this thread you will find the option to mark the thread “resolved”. Would you like to do that please?

No-one here represents anyone, and no-one here was rude. We are all volunteers in the forum, and we often have limited time, especially when we have to repeat ourselves. The internet is full of strangers who communicate differently from ourselves, as you saw over at WP.org.

From time to time I monitor the wordpress.org forum threads and I take note of those who post there and get no answers. Sometimes they end up over here begging for help that we cannot provide.

The fact is that the “biggest” tag on the wordpress.com support forum is word.press.org and it represents how much volunteer time is expended on directing self hosted bloggers to the correct forum.

The two forums look too much alike. The fact that they have such a similar visual appearance leads to unnecessary confusion. The appearance can be changed easily changed so why this hasn’t been done yet is beyond me.

It is also about data for the selected product. Threads on support here are for blogs on this hosted service which is using a variation of WordPress MU (multi-user). Most threads on wordpress.org ultimately have answers that require the user to do something that is not possible here on wordpress.com due to the nature of the product and the limited ability of users to change things.

That is why answers in these forums are for the wordpress.com hosting service and nothing else. I am not staff and cannot speak on this with authority, but I would think that answers for those posts that should be in the wordpress.org/support/ forums shouldn’t be here as they are confusing to actual users of this service as most answers are not relevant.

Either way, I think this topic isn’t something that needs anymore discussion, so let’s move on.
