how to register a wordpress account for a private site?
-
I started a blog site: mceev.worpress.com. Then invited 20 persons trough the invitation form. The invitations arrived to the group, they show the ‘Activate blue button’ and says to generate the account, but we don’t know how to do it and come to the site, that is:
1. Generate the account
2. Get into the siteThe only one who registered and entered, doesn’t know how he did it (clicking here and there, he says, but he doesn’t know the procedure)
Could you give me the exact procedure?
(if it is different as the email company of the invited person changes, please give me the different procedures )(Possible you should think on making this easier, because 20 of 20 persons have problems with it. 21 as myself too. I have programmed complex sites with php and mysql, so I would think I have some idea about sites, but this item resulted more complex )
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can have either a public or a private WordPress.COM hosted blog and there is no limitation on the total number of contributors to any blog. If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author. If you want users to receive updates each time you publish new content you can invite them to be a follower/viewer.
To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings
See here please:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/The person will have to register a username account which requires an email address only, but does not need to register a blog. That requirement is because the software has to be able to differentiate between hackers and official users and allow access only to those with username accounts and official roles on the blog.
Upon receipt of the invitation the invitee will need to click the “Accept Invitation” button in the invitation email. If the invitee is logged into their WordPress.com username account, he or she will be taken directly to your blog. If not, he or she will be taken to the log-in screen, where he or she can either log in, or can register a new WordPress.COM user account.
Note that invitees who do create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.
Lastly, there is a built-in spammer prevention so send out only 10 invitations at one point in time and then wait and manage those before sending out 10 more.

Is it possible to have something blocking since I sent 10 invitations and after some 3 or 4 minutes I sent the other 9?
-
Hi @lfjill,
You probably haven’t been blocked, so no worries there. Most of these users have not created WordPress.com accounts yet, though. So here’s what you’ll want to have them do:
1) Create an account here: https://wordpress.com/start/account/user
2) While logged in, open the invitation email and click the link.
You can resend the invitations if you’d like, but they will need to create an account before they’ll be able to accept. I hope that helps! We’ll work on making that easier.

Now is happening that an invited person wrote a message in the site, but the user list not even mention him. (now 3 of 20 in)
I obviously recharged the page, but it doesn’t refresh the list. What can I do in order to see the real list? -

I found in https://mccev.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php 4 readers, and although 19 persons were invited as authors, in options-writing I have nobody, and in users only to the user “fbc42”, so this is a mess that is not working, and other people has not achived even to register theirselves.
Do somebody could help me?

Okay. I saw that user too. I can help. This is what needs to be done:
If you click on Invitar usuarios you can see the users you have invited who have not accepted an invitation.
The ones with email addresses instead of usernames have not created an account yet. Ask each of them to go here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/start/The ones that have usernames just have not accepted the invitation yet. Click Reenviar to send another copy. You may also want to Reenviar all those who create an account.
Let me know when you have done this.

Hi, I can see you’ve opened another thread about this, but I’ll bring the conversation back here since multiple threads on one issue can be confusing.
In https://mccev.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php only appear one user.
In https://mccev.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php there are six authorized usersIf you wanted to give those users more than just “view” access, please invite those six users again, but give them a more powerful role. Then they will show up here:
https://mccev.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.phpAs for the others, please go ahead and use the steps we posted last. When that is done, please respond here so we can check it for you. Thank you!

I invited all of them as “authors”, but your system doesn’t works fine, and is not designed just to get an account but a web site, so it is a laberinticous group of steps almost impossible to achieve for normal people even with some experience in PCs. If there are somebody who really cares, I would expect him to capture directly in your database instead of this almost impossible procedure invented for the torture of your victims!

Or perhaps you have a paranoid group or programmers avoiding people to aproach to wordpress.
-
-
Is there a link JUST for registering an account instead of a web site? Because this has made a mess for all.
-
or simply, please register the 19 users I need and that would solve this in a moment. We have almost 10 days fighting with this item, I’m becoming desperate!
-
They selected me to do this because I’m too a web programmer (php, mysql), I had programmed even 4,500 persons RH payroll system, but this procedure is beyond me.

Ten days ago, I was the clever guy who proposed to use wordpress as a modern way to comunicate in a group.
Today I’m the stupid guy who proposed a way to comunicate that doesn’t work even to register users. Thank you. There is a way to save this situation: Register TODAY the 19 users invited, and let us use this media, so I will become the not so smart but “fixed image” guy administering some kind of monster, and your prestige as a company could emerge from the sink, at least for us and our friends (maybe 400 persons).

Your answers seem to come from a machine or robot with an 8088 processor with DOS, instead of a person trying to help.

If it is not working for thursday, I think the trying with you will be over and I wil have maybe to program something easy but functional in two or three days. (time I need for another comitments)
I don’t understand why there are companies that offer something they don’t really want to give. It would be easier don’t waste yours and our time and effort. Even the free level doesn’t have to be useless as it is an introductory stage. Don’t you think so?
