How to register my own nameserver
-
Hello,
I just moved to a VPS hosting service, and when I went to wordpress.com to redirect my nameservers I get a message saying that my “servername is not registered”.
I looked everywhere trying to find where I could register the new servernames, but couldn’t find it.
Could someone please shed some light, so I can redirect my site?
Thanks,

Thanks, but unfortunately it didn’t help. I’ve taken the steps listed on the link you’ve sent trying to change the nameservers, but I get an error message saying that the nameservers are not registered.
What I need is to find the place where I can register my own nameserver, associated to their respective IP numbers, so they can be recognized when I change the old nameservers to my own nameservers.
It’s probably right in front of me, but I’m missing it.

You’ll need to contact your VPS provider about setting up nameservers on your new VPS, then you’ll be able to change them here.

They gave me the new nameservers already. The problem is that I don’t know how to register them here. Below, what they told me:
“These nameservers should be registered as follows at the registrar.
ns1.ovnihoje.com with IP address 67.xxx.x.xx
ns2.ovnihoje.com with IP address 67.xxx.x.xx” -
Oh, you’re using the domain you have registered here.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide nameserver registration services.
In this case, I recommend transferring your domain to a registrar who can.

I suspected that. And the worst part is that I just renewed my domain and mapping. There goes the $$$ :(
Thanks for the info.
