How to remove 301 redirected pages from Google Index?
-
Hi all,
I have a photographer’s WP site, where each photoshoot is a Portfolio item.
Once I was checking settings in Appearance -> Theme options -> Portfolio settings. There was a simple button ‘yes/no’ with a functionality:
‘Prefix for portfolio items URL
NOTE: Adds prefix to portfolio items: domain.com/portfolio/portfolio-item-slug’Well, I stupidly turned it OFF and then ON again…(((
As a result, now I have in my Google Search Console 66 not indexed portfolio pages with 301 redirect like that:
domain.com/portfolio-item-slug with 301 redirect to domain.com/portfolio/portfolio-item-slugThere are NO real pages domain.com/portfolio-item-slug on the site… Believe me or not, I couldn’t find any code on the entire site that drives that.
Please, help me me to find this functionality/bug in WP and remove these pages (domain.com/portfolio-item-slug) from Console. Thank you, +100 to your Karma! :)
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Howdy!
As stated here, we cannot assist you with analyzing these reports from Google Search Console. Since your site is not hosted at WordPress.com, we also have limited visibility. It sounds like you have the option turned on, so you may want to turn it off and have Google Search recrawl your site.
If that doesn’t work, can you provide us with more specific links to gain better visibility into this issue?
Thanks!

Thank you for your answer!
Why I ask WP help, because on my opinion the WP Portfolio functionality made these redirects somehow and somewhere (and I couldn’t find them even inside the site code…) If I fix the bug in WP, it will disappear in Console automatically, as I understand.
Here are pairs of the links (this is my wife’s site):
https://www.juliayatel.com/two-hearts/ with a 301 redirect to https://www.juliayatel.com/portfolio/two-hearts/
https://www.juliayatel.com/red-sun/ with a 301 redirect to https://www.juliayatel.com/portfolio/red-sun/
And 64 other pairs :(((

Thanks for the site links. The site mentioned is not hosted on WordPress.com so we are not able to investigate the cause for the redirection. Please reach out to your hosting service provider or the plugin developer for more help with the portfolio.
If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums. You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com hosted sites and self-hosted sites here.
