How to remove a comment I made?
-
In Facebook one can always remove a comment one makes no matter where.
Not so apparently on wordpress. E.g.,

You can contact the blog owner to ask him to remove your comment. Comments submitted sites (blogs) are controlled by the site owner. Many people will respond to a polite request, but beyond that, there is nothing you can do.
-
There are so many different platforms that you can’t take expectations from one and assume they’ll work on another. Twitter is not Facebook which is not blogging.
-
One day it will happen to you. You will accidentally paste the corportate secrets into a comment and frantically search for a way to undo the mistake.
Next thing you know you will be startting in RISKS Digest.
All thanks to…

If the designers feel that this is just great, then at least there should be a greyed-out delete button or X that when clicked pop-up “you cannot delete your comment” — thus leaving no doubt that the designers overlooked something.
-
It can even happen in real life, saying something to someone that you regret…
There are no “greyed out delete buttons” and Whoever or Whatever or if-ever the Designer is made you responsible for what you do…One day it will happen to you.
That is almost as true as everything changes, we all make mistakes, there is no certainty, we begin to die as soon as we are born…
I’m sorry if you made a mistake, but perhaps doing as I suggested will mitigate the damage? You cannot blame wordpress, nor the universe…

It’s not like typewriter correction ribbons are something new. Nor should one have to wait for some moderator to come home/down from vacation. OK have it your way.

Staff will not change the mistaken comment either. I am a volunteer! If you make a comment on someone’s site on wp.com, then it it up to that person to keep or remove it.
-
I’m saying a design change is needed to prevent future nightmares. Not staff help for a single problem today.
-
The design change you are requesting has been requested at least once a month for all the seven years I have been here. It is not going to happen. You have more than one thread about how your expectations and WordPress.com are different. It’s easier to change your expectations of the software: this is called learning how it works.
-
The way to prevent future nightmares is simple. If you are so inclined you can do what I do. Use what you can use right now, rather than bawling the blues and asking for others to do for you – do for yourself. I’m visually challenged and I compose comments I submit to blog posts first in a text editor and then I copy and paste the comment into a comment box and click “submit”. Easy peasy …

Yes if one such as myself were so smart I would never make mistakes.
Other platforms offer forgiveness. -
I am assuming you have read what I posted above and may act on it. Alternatively, I am assuming that you will make the decision that makes you happy and that appears to be moving your content to a platform that operates exactly the way you want it to. The key to happiness is found between the ears and those who don’t use it but choose to complain run the risk of becoming persona non grata.
-
Many platforms have no delete / edit ability – others have a 5 minute window or so to correct typos and such and yet others let you edit your own stuff for years – just depends on the design – WordPress – both .ORG installs & .COM blogs do not allow editing by the person making the comment –
