How to remove a follower?

One of the followers of my blog is requesting to be deleted from the list of followers so that she will no longer receive emails of new posts. How do I remove a wordpress.com follower?

Thank You Raincoaster. I did not know whether that only deleted the invitation. Why are the followers not listed in the All users; curious. Thanks again.

hi raincoaster, I went to the users page but there is only one user listed there – me (the administrator). i am still unable to delete my follower. could you be more specific please?

Old schoolhall; Raincoaster helped me with this; I needed to go to my invited list and from there deleted the individual. I had kept going to users and I am the only user. hope helps

Unfortunately bettyertwine posted off-topic into this thread and took you off track. Your blog is a public blog. You cannot unsubscribe anyone from your public blog. Your subscribers control that, you don’t. Here are brief instructions for unsubscribing you can share with that follower:
1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails.
2. go here > http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ locate and click the “x” next to any blog there to unfollow it and no longer receive posts in the Reader or by email.
3. go to the blog in question and click the unfollow/follow link on your Admin bar. -

It won’t help because you two have apples (public blog) and oranges (private blog) issues. -
Hi Bettyertwine, I’m sorry I’m still getting it. Is that under “Users” and “Invite New”? I went there and found no one listed as previously invited by me. This follower is a blog follower, not invited. I’m still puzzled.

I know you did not intend to do this. Best wishes with your private blog that has followers by invitation only and not to worry. We will eventually sort this with oldschoolhall who has a public blog. -
Why doesn’t wordpress allow us to remove a follower if we want them gone?? This particular follower is affecting my husbands job status b/c he reads my blog and knows what we are up to. I MUST get this person removed from my blog. Can anyone help??

It’s NOT possible to remove a follower who subscribes to your public blog either by email or by subscribing directly to the RSS Feed.
