How to remove “About Author”

When I view a single posting through my blog page (meaning, not in the editor/dashboard) it shows a blurb at the bottom “about author” and the text (but not photo) from the Gravatar profile I wrote.. I think this is wholly unnecessary, and would like to remove it. I went to dashboard / edit posts, where you see the list of posts to choose from, and used the “screenoptions” at the top and UNclicked Author there and saved it – but the “About Author” still shows on all my posts. I have found this discussed on the forum and the answer was you can’t delete this – but that was over a year ago (Jan 2009), wondering if there is any change, that maybe now it could be done? Question 2 – what WAS accomplished by UNclicking author on that screen options drop down? I can’t spot a difference in my blog. and Question 3 – if I am in fact stuck with that About Author thing at the bottom of every post – IS it drawing its content from the Gravatar profile? If not, where? Curious because it is not picking up the photo chosen in Gravatar but just defaulting to the green graphic snowflakey design. If I were to delete the content of Gravatar (or whatever is the source) would this “about author” thing go away? Or still be there, but show empty? Thanks.

If you are talking about the blog linked to your username, Sorry, you are in the wrong forum and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.

These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently and our answers typically will not work for you.

If you do not know the difference, see this support document: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .

The link I am directed to when I click the user name is http://winewomantravel.wordpress.com/

@sinthea I believe that feature is theme depend it and can not be changed due to the fact we don’t have access to the under laying files here 2 WP.com

If I wrong I welcome anyone that Knows CSS to correct my above statement.

Re Q1 (&3): To get rid of that blurb, go to Users > My Profile, delete the text from the “About you” box, click Update Profile.

Re Q2: “Screen Options” have to do what you see or don’t see on the particular dashboard screen, not the blog.

Oops, I just looked at the link at the bottom of the page on the theme – and that points to http://wordpress.org/ . I guess that is a bug on that theme.
