how to remove an excerpt from the list of posts in Blog Simple ?

    Blog Simple theme.
I tried WP’s new editing format. Typed something in the excerpts box to see where it goes, and found nothing.
HOWEVER ! – I then found that it’s representing that post in the list of posts.
    AND I CAN’T DELETE IT !
I’ve removed all trace of what I typed from the box and updated the post, but the bloody excerpt is still sitting there.
    Instructions for deletion, please ?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Never mind !
Have decided to go with it.

Hi M-R, thanks for letting us know about this! It looks like this is actually a bug in the new post editor. For now, you can delete excerpts by going to the classic editor and removing them there.

I’ve reported the issue to our team so they can investigate it. I’ll let you know when I get an update from them — thanks again!

Rachel – don’t go [she said, raising her voice] …
Your mention of the two editors reminds me: what THE DEVIL do I do to tell the system that I want to use the new one and only the new one ?
At present I have to click on the link and go through all that nonsense EVERY TIME, and it’s driving me mad.

    Hi M-R,

If you keep getting sent to the classic editor, instead of the new one, that’s a preference that’s saved in a cookie in your browser. The best way to reset it (so you’re direct to the new one instead) is to delete your WordPress.com cookies from your browser:

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

It’s not so much that I need help with it, Rachel, as that clearing all the cookies does nothing. I still find myself in the classic editor when I click on ‘add new’ …

    Hi M-R,

If you go to Posts > Add New in your site’s dashboard, that will still always take you to the classic editor. However, you can click on “New Post” in the admin bar (in the upper right when you’re in your site’s dashboard or on the site itself) to go straight to the new editor instead.

You can also click on the pencil icon when you’re at https://wordpress.com/ (or go straight to the editor at https://wordpress.com/post/ ) to get there. :)

Ah ! Then that’s exactly what I shall do – and I apologise for being a klutz and never having checked to see what the ‘new post’ button does !
(No: I shan’t be clicking on the pencil icon – I’m loathe the Reader and avoid it like the plague.)
I’m very grateful, Rachel – thank you so much !

Hi M-R, I just wanted to let you know that our team fixed up that issue with the excerpts in the new post editor. You can now remove excerpts in that editor by deleting them from the Excerpt section there. Thanks again for letting us know about that issue. :)

    Excellent.
For once I was actually contributory, Rachel !
    :-)
