How to remove an out of date item from my sidebar
-
I haven’t used WordPress in a couple of years and clearly things have changed a bit since I last looked at the dashboard. There is a link on the top the sidebar to a charity activity that is complete and closed, but I cannot figure out how to remove it. Any ideas?
This is the link:

Dashboard >> Appearance >> Widgets >> Drag the Widget to the inactive area at the bottom of the page or there should be a “Delete” option if you click on the widget on the widgets page

Are you referring to this post http://itsdd2.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/if-you-havent-done-so-already-please/
To delete any post hover over the edit link and then click Trash.

Should be a Text Widget – probably the second one down on the sidebar
Click on the little down arrow thing, that will open up the Widget and you can see what is in the Widget

I do not see Support Irish Premature Babies it in the sidebar. What I see is a post with a reference to the same thing at this link http://itsdd2.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/if-you-havent-done-so-already-please/

Thanks thistimethispace, but what I am referring to is the item just above the search box on my page.
auxclass, thank you for this but there is no text widget in my sidebar, the first one that appears in my list of widgets is the “search” widget, the piece I want to remove is above the search box.
I’m going to try changing the theme to see if that might knock it out -

I just figure it out! It is an option in the theme settings.
Thanks to both of you for offering help
