Good Morning – What is the URL of the blog you need help with? I do not see the archive widget on http://lucasrome.wordpress.com/ . Do you still need help with removing it?

Thanks for the swift reply
the url is indeed lucasrome.wordpress.com.
The archive I was referring to is the grey block on the righthand side on the blogpage -
Ok. The gray box is the widget location for your theme. This is the demo site for your theme: https://publicationdemo.wordpress.com/ This link explains all the features of your theme: https://wordpress.com/themes/publication/
You can add Widgets to your site Theme/Customize > Widgets .
Or, use this link to get you there: https://wordpress.com/customize/A list of Widgets for WordPress.com can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/

Option 1- Fill the gray box with widgets that will augment your blog.

Option 2 – Change the theme of your blog to one that utilizes widgets only in the footer. This way, if you choose to never add any widgets it not be noticeable, like the empty gray box. All of the WordPress.com themes are found here: http://wordpress.com/themes/ There are lots of fantastic free options that utilize the footer widgets as I mentioned.
Option 3 – Remove the gray box with CSS. The sidebar is hard coded into your themes design. It is meant to be filled with widgets. If you do not wish to change your theme or use widgets then this would be the only way to remove it. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) can be edited by following these guides: https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/css-basics/
