How to remove archives/subscribe/links from the sidebar

I am using a static front page, and do not want “archives” listed in the right sidebar. I am using the Ocean Mist theme, and when I go into the widgets section, there are currently no widgets listed in the sidebar. It just says “Sidebar 1”. However, the site displays browse/archives/subscribe/links in the sidebar. I am not sure how to get rid of them.

As a side note, when I dragged the “archives” widget over into the sidebar, the rest of the items in the sidebar disappear (subscribe/browse/links all disappear). The new archive widget is still displayed…

Any help in getting all of them to go away? Or a way to hide the sidebar on the front page? (I have no idea how to do anything with CSS, so that’s not a good option for me!)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have not added widgets to the sidebar, what you are seeing is a theme generated sample display of widgets. Once you add even a single widget, the sample display disappears.

If you want nothing to show in the sidebar, then put a blank text widget into the sidebar. Do note that that will mean that there will be no visible widgets on ANY page. You cannot set different widget configurations for different pages.
