How to remove comments from blog?

  I am trying to remove all comments from my blog, and the ability to add them, but can’t work out how to do it. I have read http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/ but the two boxes it talks about unticking don’t appear anywhere on the edit screen as it mentions. Help!

  If the two boxes to uncheck are not appearing can you make sure that you have the Discussion module checked in your screen options? We have details about where to find that in our support docs.
