how to remove date from post urls / permalinks?

  How do you remove the date from post urls / permalinks? I want to remove the yyyy/mm/dd/ part of the url for posts.

  I know you can if you use the community download and host your own wordpress installation with permalink plugin, and I know you don’t have to have dates in the urls on ‘pages’ but surely this is also customisable for posts on wordpress.com ?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  We cannot alter permalink structure on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

  There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes then you will have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install.
