How to remove default message on blog page

  How can I remove the default [“Hey there! Thanks for dropping by Steven’s Rants! Take a look around and grab the RSS feed to stay updated. See you around!”] from the top of my blog page? It’s not that I don’t want an RSS feed option, but I would prefer to have it as a widget instead of a lame message up top like it is now. Thanks.
