How to remove from home page a line "this is the home page's except"
-
This is not happening on my already existing site that I’ve had for 2 years, but it is happening on a site newly created today.
The home page was created full of links to unwanted features I will never use, that never used to happen, but I have managed to get rid of them all. Except one. The home page persists in showing at bottom, in smaller print, a repeat of its title, and under it “This is the home page’s excerpt.”
It makes the site look silly. Googling on the question seemed to show that many WordPress sites are now suffering the same thing! How do I remove it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

the blog I need help with IS NOT the one that has appeared in the post above, where I did not type the last line and it has spontaneously appeared by itself. I can’t see how to remove that line, yet it is directing you to my older site which I have not got any problem with !!! What is the point of that?

Nor did I think of that older site as a blog. Is that the answer? I created the newer site as a site. Will converting it to a blog, yet still in fact using it as a site, with pages instead of posts, will that remove the “home page’s excerpt” line?

Hi there,
It sounds like the home page has a custom excerpt as part of its starter content.
To delete it:
– open the page you want to edit
– expand More Options in the sidebar
– delete the text from the Excerpts field
– click SaveIf this doesn’t help resolve the issue, please post a link to your site.

The forum automatically appends the URL from the primary site in your WordPress.com profile to opening posts.
This can often help us see the problem being described if a user does not include a link to their site.
If the site listed in the opening post is not the one you need help with, it would be helpful if you add a link to the site you do need help with.
I hope this helps :)

Solved in removing the original silly item. But has just changed to showing the introductory text twice. The excerpt bit is still there.
I have found a thread about disabling excerpts, which says that the answer is to change your theme. But how do I know, besides trial and error through all the themes one by one, which ones allow you not to have excerpts? -
The home page on your site has also been set to be one of the three Featured Pages displayed in a row. This causes the same info to be shown twice.
You can select a different Featured Page to be shown in that area in My Sites > Customize > Theme Options.
The setup guide for Dara can be found at:
https://wordpress.com/theme/daraIf you look a the theme demo for Dara, you can see how it looks when different pages are selected as the Featured Pages, each with its own separate excerpt and featured image:
