How to remove 'Leave a Comment' text from posts & pages?
-
Hi,
I am currently setting up a portfolio site and trying to learn wordpress. I am using the imbalance 2 theme which I think is going to be perfect once I can get the hang of it!
Main thing I’m stuck on now:
As I’m using this as a website, not a blog, I wanted to remove all commenting capability so I unchecked all boxes in the discussion settings. Now it still says ‘Leave a Comment’ beside posts? I have tried looking this up and people are referring to ftps, and code but where do I find all this? I will be moving the site over to my own domain but only when it’s complete so I’m leaving the old site up there for now. So im just being hosted by wordpress yeah? Confused as to how to fix this and it seems like it should be SO simple! Also, I don’t want any ‘Leave a Reply’ boxes either…
Also, along the bottom of site where it says ‘Blog at WordPress.com. | Theme: Imbalance 2 by WPShower.’ how can I change this to my own message, a copyright notice or something?
Any help MUCH apreciated, this is so confusing at first! Please be really descriptive as I have been trawling through other forums and struggling to understand as my know-how in wordpress is very basic!
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have since noticed that for any new posts I put up since changing the discussion settings that yep all comment-references are gone! :) YES!
Now I was wondering about the;
‘Also, along the bottom of site where it says ‘Blog at WordPress.com. | Theme: Imbalance 2 by WPShower.’ how can I change this to my own message, a copyright notice or something?’
and also if there was a way to remove the dates from showing up on all posts?
Thanks so much in advance!

1) Disabling comments (and pings) in Settings > Discussion becomes your new default: it applies to posts and pages you create after the change, but has no effect on already published posts/pages. To disable comments (and pings) on an post you published before changing the settings, you go to Posts > All Posts, click Quick Edit under the post title, uncheck the relevant options, click Update.
2) WP doesn’t allow removing or modifying the credits (and anyway it’s impossible to do that without the Custom Design upgrade). You can add a notice in a Text widget in the Footer area.

Thank you that is really helpful! :)
Do you know if it’s possible to stop the dates from showing up on posts?
(Last q I promise!)Thanks

You’re welcome.
You can’t really hide the dates without the Custom Design upgrade.
A crude way to do it without the upgrade would be to display some decorative character in place of the date: go to Settings > General > Date Format, select Custom, enter a character in the field, click Save Changes. If you’re interested in this workaround, you can also add a symbol instead of a regular character – see this post of mine: -

You’re welcome!
But it would be better if you added a symbol instead of a colon. A right arrow, perhaps:

Also on the Posts and such – once you have more content in the blank Posts – the Footer will push down to the bottom of the page below the content so it will be much less noticeable on those pages
